I have a number of users who are responsible for a lot of workflow approval, and as such, get a lot of messages in their inbox.
Periodically, these users delete unwanted items from their inbox. So far, so good.
However, I have noticed that the deleted items, whilst no longer visible under the Inbox asset, are re-linked to the "Trash" messages asset instead.
The list of messages listed by the Trash asset is now too long to be displayed and purged via a browser interface.
Is there an alternate method to purge these messages?
Thanks
Vic
There is a feature request to paginate the inbox/trash so that this is easier to clear. There is also a feature request to have a script that can clear out these messages as well.
The script to clear them out is currently in development and will be available in 3.12
Nice to hear that a script will be available in 3.12. Given we are only on 3.8.4, it will take time to get there.
In the mean time, is it possible to purge these items at the database level?
On a related note, in the "trash" section of each Inbox, there are "RECOVER" and "PURGE" columns where you can select individual items to recover/purge. Additionally, there is a master check box at the top of each column that I am assuming should check all messages. I have tried using the master check boxes on small and large mailboxes and neither of them seem to work. Our production environment is 3.8.4 and our dev system is now 3.10.4 and the recover and purge master check boxes don't work on either version. I also tried the purge function on a couple of the interum upgrade steps, without success. Perhaps this is a bug.
You can probably run the 3.12 script on your version. I don't think the DB schema has changed. You can always download the RC and give it a try, or contact Squiz to get a copy. Backup first though - we haven't tested the script on your version.
As for the master checkbox, I have not seen any reports of problems, so submit a bug if you cant get it working and we'll try replicating it here.
