Regenerate metadata files

i have more than 200 user assets using a metadata schema, if i use the "Regenerate metadata files" feature, will this restore the current metadata values of all assets that uses the metadata schema to default value?

Are you meaning, will it reset all of the values back to default? No, it will keep any value intact. What are you needing to regenerate for?

i added a new metadata field and i guess i need to regenerate it again to all assets using it

Yes, you do. It won't effect any of the other fields.
