Remappin an asset while moving it to trash

 Hi all

I am being doing some testing in 3.12.x and came across something a bit strange.

For example I have got a standard page called 'test', inside that I have got some contents which links to a pdf document called 'fred', with the following link <A href="./?a=6639">testing point</A>

I decided to delete the 'fred' pdf document, a pop-up screen appear asking the user whether he or she wants to relink another document, then I select another PDF document called 'cathy', will be pointing to it, clicked on the next, the hipo does the necessary things which is required. That Fine

But when I got back to that standard page 'test' and check to see whether the link has being changed it hasn't. It still has the old url link A href="./?a=6639">testing point</A> instead of the new relink one which is A href="./?a=7532">testing point</A> . AM I missing the logic of what a remap is meant to do??

Cheers

Yes, slightly.

The Remap Manager maps old URLs to new URLs, but it doesn't change internal links. So, when someone hits the old URL, Matrix will automatically remap to a new URL.

Matrix warns you if an internal link will be broken when you trash an asset, so you should ensure that you fix your internal links first.

Thank Avi. Well why then was it not a requirement for internal links to be fixed automatically as well.’ /> It will make life much easier for the people. Doesn’t it sound logically in theory. <img src=‘http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif’ class=‘bbc_emoticon’ alt='B)

Its up to the users to manually fix their links as necessary. We try not to make decisions on behalf of the user, if possible.

Well if i ask for a future request for an ‘option button’, to either fix the relevant internal links ‘automatically’ or ‘manually’, will I be able to get it implemented for our organisation.

No – feature requests need to be funded. You should talk to your Squiz Account Manager about requesting a quote for this development.
