RSS Feeds - Easy or not?

Hi all,

Looking to configure an RSS feed page to link to a Telstra site. What aggregators tend to be:

a ) free

and

b ) easy to use.

How easy is it to configure or is it just easier to set up a remote content page and use the start/end tags?

Cheers

Matrix v3.8’s News package includes an RSS Feed reader that reads external feeds and turns them into shadow assets that can be listed with a normal asset listing. Check with your account manager to see if you are eligible to receive this new package.

The only rss we have at present is the SMH top stories and that just seems to be a http://feeds.smh…… address and that works beautifully.

Does that mean that Matrix knows what to do with http://feeds.smh… web addresses ie has an inbuilt aggregator? Cos i can get the feed URL no problem. Just needed know if i had to do anything else.

The rss link i’ve put in basically just spits out a whole string of text. URLs are readable but don’t convert into hyperlinks or anything…

Matrix has no idea what to do with RSS Feeds (or at least, the Remote Content asset doesn’t). Its just showing you the XML it receives. Any rendering that occurs would be done by your browser.

You really need the RSS Feed asset from the News package to display an inbound RSS feed properly.

(Edited to desplit an infinitive).
