Search form nesting

I want to nest a search form in a page.

The result I’m aiming for is a site-wide search bar. With the input box and Search Categories at the top of the page with the results loading into the page below.

If I nest the Search Page as a Design Customisation of the site design then the Initial Search Page Layout nests fine, but when performing a search it will (obviously) nest the Results Page Layout in the nested content area and overlays the contents of the page it’s on - which isn’t desirable.

Can the simple search box Wiki search box be adapted, or is there another way to achieve this?

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you have the Search package, then you have the Searchbox design area. You should be using that. When you configure the Searchbox design area, you'll need to target a full search page to print the results.

Is it possible to print the category list from the associated search asset in the Searchbox design area?

Absolutely. The full search results page will be displayed when the user searches using the design area. Just think of the design area as a permanent, single-field initial search page.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't explaining very well.

Is there a way to get the search category list %category_list% drop down option list outputted in the search box design area, or is it limited to a simple search box and submit button at present?

At the moment, its a simple search box and submit button. You may want to submit a feature request to make the category list available as well.
