Hi Guys,
Would I be able to implement perl to search my matrix website?
Search in matrix
If you have a spidering search engine, it will be able to spider a MySource Matrix driven site. If you're looking to integrate a Perl script directly with the database that contains the Matrix content, this is far more complicated. I'll move this into the developer forum for more discussion.
Not sure if I asked the first question right, but i'll go again. I just want to have a search function within my matrix website, so it searches the content within the site. Do I have to use 'your' search module, or can I implement my own. Is this why you said it could be complicated?
Ours is completely integrated with our permissions and display engines, so it would be a lot simpler. Having said that, you could write an external script to query our database, but it would be far more complicated. I guess it comes down to why you'd want to develop your own search module in the first place.

Only reason to implement own search functionality is because yours costs money.
True, but you get our SSV modules as part of any standard implementation. We're not that expensive, especially considering there are no ongoing licensing fees. :)
We also work quite nicely with 3rd-party search tools like Google Mini appliances, Funnelback or even ht://Dig.
What about 'swish-e'? Have you heard anything about it, and can it work nicely with matrix?
Any spidering search engine should be fine. I haven't played with swish-e specifically, but it looks pretty good.
What do you mean? If you're talking about writing your own search engine, the this has already been discussed. If you're talking about using the existing Search package, then you should probably attend the 212 Search course for training on how to use the search components.
any developers out der implement der own search functionality in matrix? coz it cost money when u will not create ur own.
is it possible to use swish-e in matrix or will it work? just want to clarify
There is currently no integration between swish-e and Matrix, unless Valerz has written something he is willing to release.
