Are the contents of text files, e.g. Csv files, indexed by the search manager? If not can antiword or pdftohtml extract and index the text?

I am pretty sure that only PDF and Word files are indexed using the external plugins you mentioned. And, I doubt there is a way, other than changing core code to change this behavior.
