Hi
I am creating a [straight forward] search for my site.
The initial search page will be embedded on all pages, and the initial field needs to be almost the width of the page.
I have created my search page asset, and it is set up and working
… but…
I can't seem to be able to change the width of the box.
There appears to be a setting under 'search fields' > 'Field Styles' > 'field styles'that should do the trick, according to the manual
but there are no options to change anything.
the only option i have under search fields' > 'Field Styles' > is 'Use date picker'. [and a yes/no drop box]
i do have text that says 'field styles' : but no options
Is there something i am missing in how i am setting this up?
or do i have a bug?
You can change the size of the input field using CSS. Have you tried this yet?
Thanks for the reply Nic.
I was aware that you can change via css: although i haven't tried this yet but will probably be implementing this way.
I still feel that i am a mysource newbie and have been trying to work out how to do things in mysource - but sometimes the manuals don't join up the dots…
my screen looks like that page 32 of the search manual - except i have created and set up a working search field
but
i can't get the field styles to appear [as on page 35]

The example in the manual refers to an Asset Attribute. Which field / fields are you searching on?
I'm not entirely sure but the Field Styles might only be available if the Search Field is set up to search attributes rather than metadata for example. Furthermore this might also be limited to certain field types such as those requiring text input.
