Search XML data source assets

I have a couple of XML data sources that we pull in. The assets are seen listed in the backend and then printed to the front via an Asset listing page, which works really well.


My question is can these assets be searched? As entering a search term that is the title of one of the listed assets does not return it in the results list.

These assets are known as "Shadow Assets" meaning they dont really exist in the CMS. No shadow assets are indexed by the internal search engine and so can't be returned in searches.
