Searching within sites

Hi

I've got many sites all sharing pretty much the same design. As part of the design I've got a search box at the top of the page. The search box is a customisation of the design.

Currently I've got the search page root node set as the Site Network asset which contains all these sites. This works, but it searches all of the subsites below. Is it possible to restrict the search so that it only searches within the site that the user is on? And more importantly, is it possible to do this with only one search page (i.e. not a search page on every site).

I've a feeling it may be possible using dynamic root nodes. Would I be on the right track with this one?

Cheers, Keith

The only way to do it now is to create a Search Page for each site, and create a customisation for each site pointing the search box to each site's search page.

I have already submitted a feature request for a Current Site dynamic root node option, but its not in Matrix yet.

Hi Avi,

We have a similar problem as Keith.

We are trying to create a dynamic search page that only searches folders within a particular page hierarchy

We have nested a Search page as a side bar in our design and applied this design to a few pages which also have folders in their hierarchy. We have also set the root node for the search page in the Dynamic Parameter section to Current asset.

It looks like we have done the right thing according to search manual but it doesn’t seem to be working.
