Hi,
Can anyone advice me on how to set up a test or development site? Is there any documentation on this topic?
Thanks
Not sure what you're asking – setting up Matrix is the same regardless of what you use the system for.
Thanks Avi, Sorry I must clarify.
I must admit, that I am still a novice user and am not completely comfortable with Matrix. So perhaps, this might be a silly question.
I want to create a replica of our current production system as a test site. I know how to create a new site but I want to know
- if there is an easy way to copy all the files and the meta data and the design in the asset tree - bulk import
- How do we publish the test site so other users can view the test site.
You mean, you want to make a copy of an existing Site asset and recreate it and all its children within the same MySource Matrix system? Sorry to ask again, I'm just checking exactly what you want.
That's right. We used to do that on our old site but publish it through a different port number in IIS. so users can use it as a sand pit for testing anything. We want this to be set up so we can test the workflow.
Thanks
There is no simple way to copy an entire site in MySource Matrix. My recommendation is instead of doing this in the same system, is to rather backup the entire Matrix installation and create another copy -- like with IIS, you can then get Apache to serve that copy on a different port.
If you are a Squiz client, you may want to contact Squiz support to assist you with the initial configuration of this.
