Simple Edit customisation

Is there an easy way to remove the ability to create new divs from the simple edit interface of a standard page?

You can use CSS to hide them, I'm pretty sure others have done it. Search the forum for more info.

I figured this, it's why I mentioned easy. :)

I now have the problem of my layout not applying for the contents screen of a standard page. :/

It applies fine if I assign the layout to the Details screen.

I have been having this exact problem and I cannot figure out why. Avi?

The Details screen is always the default screen. I assume you're both switching to the Contents screen at the layout isn't firing properly? Otherwise, please provide more info or log a bug.

Ok, I was an idiot and removed my details screen....works now.

Well, that's one down. :) How about you, gdhnz?

Sortof. I get the layout applying but now I'm trying to find the right keyword to display the wysiwyg content

%__custom_contents%

Finally got it working but I had to add the above keyword to the details layout screen and not the contents one.

Yes, the keywords work on any of the screens -- the screens themselves are provided so that you can provide alternative views instead of one big page to edit (if you want).

Yeah you can use css to 'hide' the insert new DIV text and buttons, I have posted it on this forum somewhere before.

Yeah, I managed to work it out. It'd be nice if there was an option as to whether allow users the ability to create divs or not etc.

You could certainly look to submit that as a feature request or even fund the development of this option. :)

Adding a preference would be the easiest option. There is already a pref for the default content type. Adding one for allowing creation of DIVs should be a small change.

It'd certainly be easier making it a global preference but then there's no flexibility.

Maybe splitting the %__custom_contents% into more keywords and then we could leave out what we didn't want to show.

I'll log a request anyway and see what happens.

All prefs are global. You can then choose the customise them per user group.

We couldn't creak it out into more keywords as those options are added between DIVs. All we could do is provide another keyword that prints the DIVs without the option of adding new ones, which would require you to create alternate interfaces for different users.
