Site map not loading in Java applet, Firefox 1.0.4

Hi,

I've installed Firefox on my Win 2K platform, and installed Java 1.4.2.

I installed the following pack from the Java Sun site: J2SE v 1.4.2_08 SDK with NetBeans 4.1 Bundle.

I've restarted my computer, and opened my Firefox browser.

When I login into MySource Matrix, the page loads, my login is successful.

On the left, where the sitemap should appear, it's asking me to download a plug in - Java 5.0 Runtime Environment, which I installed.

I closed Firefox and reopened. When I login, it gets a Java error.

So I closed Firefox and uninstalled the Java 5.0 Runtime Environment.

Reopened Firefox and logged in. It's asking for the plug in again.

I'm ready to tear my hair out.

Any advice to get it working?

Cheers Suzi

Hi Suzi,

Can you use the asset map (sitemap) in IE? Upload a screen shot of the errors you are getting and we will have more of an idea whats going on.

FWIW I wouldn't use the Java 5.0 Runtime Environment. When you get it going you'll possibly find that it is a bit sluggish to use compared with the 1_4 JRE.

Cheers.

Hi Suzi,

I'm guessing that the SDK install updated your runtime environment; The most recent versions won't work with Matrix, due, I believe, to security restrictions. If you change your runtime environment to Version 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03) or an earlier 1.4.2, it should work.

This is no longer true. MySource Matrix v3.4.3 and higher all work with the latest version of the JRE (1.5).
