To be more clear … I am using 3.8.3 and I am trying to effect a workflow. But one of the approvers has an email address external to the cms domain … and this appears to fail with a message …"No route to host" … is there a hidden constraint?
There is no hidden constraint in Matrix, but your organisation may be preventing non-authorative mail servers from delivering mail. The SMTP server on the Matrix box needs to be configured to deliver mail external to your organisation.

Thanks … It seemed illogical presumption that matrix would have anything to do with it … but I’ve come across the “ghost in the machine” far too many times before so I needed to eliminate it … <_<
