Speed of java 1.5?

I installed Java JRE 1.5 the other day and boy did it go way slower than 1.4.2…anyone else expereince this under windows 2000. I have an OK machine (P4 3.2, 1GB ram), but it was like treacle.

We've had reports from just about everyone running on all different platforms that 1.5 is much slower than 1.4.
