Speed of Matrix

We are finding that Matrix is a little on the slow side when adding pages/assets etc. We are using an older machine to test on which would make some difference, but I was just wondering what others think of the speed. Is it fine on a good system, or is it an issue?

Does the speed of the system become slower the more assets and data are entered?

Thanks

If you have rollback enabled, then Matrix will slow down as the rollback tables become larger. We recommend a business process to regularly backup Matrix and prune your rollback entries for performance.

On our recommended hardware and software platform (Dual Xeon CPU with 2gb RAM running Linux and PostgreSQL), creating an standard page asset should take no longer than 5 to 10 seconds, with rollback disabled.

As a reference, we have a client running an Apple Dual-G5 XServe with 2gb of RAM who has just on 6 months worth of entries in their rollback table and it takes ~20 seconds to create a standard page.

However, we are currently working on advanced database support (including support for stored procedures and triggers) which should have a positive impact on performance.
