Step 5 root password error

I'm in step 5 using web installer and I get the follwoing when I press next:
ERROR: The root password entered was incorrect



I have checked the password at the OS level and it works fine.



Any ideas?

The root password referred to is the password to the MySource Matrix installation, not the root account of your server.


If this is not the first time you have run the web based installer and the Matrix system was installed successfully previously (eg. you are reconfiguring the installation), you will need to enter the password that you set for the Matrix root account in both boxes provided to continue.

The installer went back to the beginning at one stage from step5 so may be something happened then. Is the password in a table or a file? Can it be deleted to bypass this problem?

I have removed the directory and started with a clean install and have got past step 5.
