I’ve just come out of a meeting with our Information & Communications Technology people… We have a help desk system with a knowledge base ( Infra) and we’re looking at ways to integrate the contents of the system (e.g. FAQs, service request forms, etc) into our intranet, which is built in Matrix. We discussed a couple of options (e.g. RSS feed for the FAQs and remote content) and one that came up was Web Service Remote Portlets (WSRPs - Infra). Does Matrix support them? I don’t know much about them, but I’m told that major portal products support them.
No, Matrix does not currently support WSRPs. We don't consider Matrix a portal product, though it has portal-related tendencies. :)
