Tagging and Thesaurus in 3.12

We have multiple Thesaurus terms and use them in related asset listings. We just upgraded to 3.12.4 and I'm having some problems.

First I wasn't able to see the children under the top level Thesaurus so I disabled the Hierarachy Mode. Now I see the childern, but I see all the children, it doesn't keep it in the same structure that we set up originally.

When I create a new thesaurus term under an existing thesaurus term, it creates it fine and I notice it only appears in the asset map under the parent not at the top level like all the others. I also notice that it appears under the Term Viewer for the parent term.

How do I get all the other terms to only appear under their parent term and not at the top level, eg how do I add the other terms to to the parents term viewer?

We have 100+ terms all showing at the top level and its really confusing for our edits to know what tag lives under what parent.

Thanks

You must enable the hierarchy mode again. You must also select a hierarchy relation for terms to display properly. Thesaurus has undergone some major changes in 3.12.
If you keep the hierarchy mode off, then thesaurus will display ALL terms as it's children. If a term doesn't appear as a child of Thesaurus (in hierarchy mode) right away it could be because Thesaurus is not refreshing properly, or it is outside the displayed range (if displaying 25 children in one go).

Can I have some more info on this? Tried the Lexicon manual but it only at ver 3.8. My thesaurus was working in 3.10 but I'm now playing in 3.12…

Basically I want a thesaurus that looks like:

FUNCTION 1

  • ACTIVITY1
  • ACTIVITY2
  • ACTIVITY3

    FUNCTION 2
  • ACTIVITY1
  • ACTIVITY2
  • ACTIVITY3

    My XML looks like the following but it is reporting that it is not ANSI/NISO Z39.19-2005 compliant.

    [codebox]<thesaurus>

    <term name="FUNCTION1">

    <term name="ACTIVITY1"/>

    <term name="ACTIVITY2"/>

    <term name="ACTIVITY2"/>

    </term>

    <term name="FUNCTION2">

    <term name="ACTIVITY1"/>

    <term name="ACTIVITY2"/>

    <term name="ACTIVITY2"/>

    </term>

    </thesaurus>[/codebox]

    How do I set this up using the Matrix admin GUI. What do I specify as the relations? Function1, Function2, Function3 etc

    Then how do I map them?

    Thanks,

    Sarah

Also is it possible to set up a metadata schema so that when a user is entering metadata the 'Use default' checkbox does not have to be unticked before they can enter anything?

Thanks

Not without using JavaScript (or funding some development). We have implemented JavaScript solutions before, so feel free to contact your account manager about it.

Is it possible to not allow multiple entries for a thesaurus metadata field?
'Allow multiple' is not an option as it is with select metadata fields.

Yes, all thesaurus fields allow multiple entries. Just click the "More" button to add more terms.

So it's not possible to customise the field so that only one entry can be made?

I really to need to read posts better. :) No, its not possible to prevent multiple terms from being used.
