Hi,
I've noticed there is a field to upload thumbnails for page assets. I've tried to use it, but it won't let me select anything (I'm talking JPEGs here).
What I'm trying to achieve is:
Every week or so we have a feature story that appears on the home page. Each story has a picture, a paragraph and a link to the complete story. I want to maintain an archive of the feature stories, using an asset listing. The asset listing includes the feature story headline and description (metadata). I'd also like to include a thumbnail of the picture that appeared on the home page feature story, as a visual aid to help people find the right stories (and also because I think it would look pretty cool). I thought the thumbnail would be perfect for this, but I because I can't select anything in the asset list, I can't test it out.
Can you help?
Do you have any thumbnail assets created? At the moment, you need to upload the thumbnail images as thumbnail assets types.
Thanks. That worked exactly the way I wanted it to.
…except, now I'm wondering why I can't use thumbnail assets like other images.
Here's my situation…
The thumbnails I'm using in the feature story pictures (and other asset listings) are sometimes the same images I've used elsewhere on the site. For example, I might use a thumbnail from the executive biographies if the story is about them. However, I might also want to use that thumbnail in the actual page contents of that executive's biography (as well as the asset listing that shows all the executive staff).
The thumbnail is perfect for the asset listing situations, but I can't use it in the page contents. Do I have to maintain two copies of the same image (as an image file and thumbnail), or am I missing something here?
Does anyone at Squiz have an answer for this one?
You should be able to insert thumbnail assets into the body content - they are just smaller image assets. Can you select the thubnmail asset using the insert image wysiwyg popup?
Thanks - it does work… I don't know what I was doing when I thought I couldn't select thumbnail assets using the asset selector.
