Title changes to Safe Edit assets appearing Live

I've logged this as bug #3532 but we're getting pressure from clients about this.

On V3.16.6 when we place an asset into Safe Edit and then change the name of the asset the current public Live version of the page still shows the old Live version of the name (as it should) but asset listers and menus show the Safe Edit version of the name.

I can't see any mention of this on the forums, bug reports or changelogs, does anyone happen to know if this behaviour has been fixed in later versions or is on the cards to be fixed?

If anyone is able to do a quick test on a later version for me that'd be great:

  • make a test standard page and make it Live with a workflow applied
  • make a Live asset lister to list Live standard pages and point to the test page
  • place the test page into Safe Edit and change the name/short name
  • refresh the asset lister as a public user…do you see the name thats in safe edit or the old (live) name?

    cheers

There is no get dynamic content types like listings and some keywords to show the Live version instead of the Safe Edit version.

The Live version is stored in a cache file on the file system and requires us to load the asset and restore it from a cache. The Safe Edit version is stored in the DB. Dynamic content always comes from the DB and tries not to load assets where possible to improve performance significantly.

To support the feature you have requested, Matrix would need to remove all performance improvements in these dynamic assets, making the overall performance of the system so bad that it really couldn't be used for even simply listings on moderately trafficked sites.

Thanks for that Greg, that's gives our clients something they need to account for in their publishing processes.
