Ok, so I have lots of user assets and people can 'delete' people by changing their permission with a trigger and Jquery. If people make a mistake they hit undo and the person is no longer deleted (again with a trigger and Jquery). Now, over time users collect pdf documents placed under their user asset.
When I delete a user the trigger fires on the user asset and changes just the users status to 'under construction' but leaves the PDF documents under her live. How would I make a trigger that changes the user status and the associated children?
Your help will be greatly appreciated to the point that I swear to comment you into the code where you can bask in glory content in the knowledge you systematically made the world a better place.

Your only option here is to use the Set Future Status option, as that action has many more options than the normal set status action. When you do this, you can make it set a future status to the next cron run, as well as set it to cascade the status to children. Changing the status on next cron run should not be a huge deal, but it might not be best in your situation, it just depends. Other than that, I am not thinking of a way to do this.
Not to worry, just figured it out. Set Future Status.
EDIT: Nic you've turned precognitive. You're answering MySource questions before people have asked them. I vote you for MSM person of the year.
