Where I can find good information on the upgrade procedure from 3.4 to 3.6? What have other people's experiences been with this upgrade?
The v3.4 to v3.6 upgrade is quite complex. The new MySource Matrix website (which is being prepared for launch at the moment) has a detailed explanation of the steps required to upgrade.

Complexity doesn’t worry me. 3.6.2 was released in November. Will provision of upgrade information coinciding with major releases be more of a focus in future?

Well, I think the focus is to avoid the kind of complexity we had with v3.4 to v3.6 and get Matrix to esentially upgrade itself, but I do take your point. We are hoping to have upgrade documentation ship with each stable version as its released.
That's promising news. The lack of an upgrade mechanism within Matrix and any information on manually performing that upgrade led us to consider the switching to another CMS. It sounds as though we can stay with Matrix.

If you’re a Squiz client, we would’ve done the upgrade for you. If you have an SLA with Squiz, the upgrade would be free, too.

Yes. The problem is that we don’t have control of our systems. We couldn’t have upgraded it if we wanted to without involving Squiz. How much does an upgrade from 3.4 to 3.6 typically cost?

That depends on the size of the v3.4 system. Essentially, you’re paying for time. An upgrade can take as little as an hour to as long as 8 to 10 hours depending on resource availability, test procedures, and content size. I recommend speaking to your Squiz Account Manager (if you have one) or any of the Squiz Salespeople to get someone to take a look at your system to get an idea of the work involved.

I can’t find the information you mention. Can you give me a pointer to where it is?
Its actually no longer on the site for some reason. I shall endeavour to discover why and make it reappear as soon as possible.

Hi Avi, Still waiting for that Upgrade Documentation, do you think it’ll be much longer?
Can you send a support request in to support@squiz.net for this? There are some outstanding issues with the upgrade process from 3.4 to 3.6, so I'd prefer to get support to talk to you directly about the process and provide you the instructions based on your current site status.
I apologise for the delay in getting back to you on this as well.
Alternatively, if you have an SLA, Squiz will do the upgrade for you, at no charge.
We'll even take you right up to v3.10.
