Just testing the upgrade scripts. I'm running 3.28.6 and I get the following:
"The following files are locally modified:"
<long list of files>
As far as I'm aware I've not modified anything locally (the last upgrade was carried out by squiz support tho - so can't be 100% sure). Is this just a weird message and in fact carrying on shouldn't make a difference?

I thought that it was a list of files that WILL be modified when the upgrade script continues. It is just letting you know.
But lets wait for someone else to confirm.

Hi,
Yes this is the list of files that are already modified on the system and that will now be replaced with the files from the version you are upgrading to. Do you think you would have any custom patch on your system? this could be a reason for above. If they are indeed custom patch (shouldn't really be looking at the fact that u mentioned "long list of files") you might want to make sure if the Version you are trying to upgrade to already has the patches so that your system doesn't break in any way. If not for custom patch, I would suggest picking up any one file and checking it against the Repository version on CVS to see what has been changed.
If really unsure about the above (and I see that you are Squiz client) , best thing to do would be to contact support and someone can look into it for you.

…I don't think that there is a custom patch. I did report an issue after 3.28.6 was updated that was identified as a bug, but support never sent a patch back. Besides I think the list is too long to be patches:

Thoughts?
While I'm on the topic of the scripts... I was having connection issues earlier so that CVS was timing out. So two queries :-P
1) Are there plans for regional mirrors (ie UK)?
2) It did seem to me that perhaps the order the script does things is an issue - specifically
3-28-6 | 4-0-0 | 3-28-6_to_4-0-0 | Disable search indexing
| | | Disable rollback
| | | IF db is oracle, skip installing squiz suite pakcage, it will be
| | | installed on 4.0.1:
| | | Check out new code, using tag "mysource_4-0-0"
| | | ELSE:
| | | Check out new code, using tag "mysource_4-0-0"
When CVS timed out (killing the script) both search and rollback would be in a disabled state?

So I've done a diff - and that difference seems really inconsequential / not really a change?

Thoughts?
While I'm on the topic of the scripts... I was having connection issues earlier so that CVS was timing out. So two queries :-P
1) Are there plans for regional mirrors (ie UK)?
2) It did seem to me that perhaps the order the script does things is an issue - specifically
3-28-6 | 4-0-0 | 3-28-6_to_4-0-0 | Disable search indexing
| | | Disable rollback
| | | IF db is oracle, skip installing squiz suite pakcage, it will be
| | | installed on 4.0.1:
| | | Check out new code, using tag "mysource_4-0-0"

Yes surely looks like it is not the matter of custom Patch. And yes the difference is surely not a REAL change. I am surprised that this is showing up. For our local testing this never happened. Would be safe to go ahead with the upgrade as I am sure you would be backing up the system.
As for the regional mirror I haven't heard anything about it but i wouldn't be the right person to answer this. So as far as I know the answer is negative.
The order of the script (as in the above case) is certainly something to consider. Thanks for raising it and I will have a look for what can be done. The script would become pretty stable if the checkout is done before disabling.

Looks like you have active trigger for this kind of action. In my case i don't it set up. Might have to look into this too. Thanks for raising this as well. Will keep this topic posted on the development.
