Use Trigger to Set Link Value

I'd like to use a Trigger so that when I create an asset, the link between that asset and its parent gets a 'Link Value'.
However, I can only seem to do this if I create a new link…

Is there a workaround I'm missing?

…and part 2: can I use a trigger to assign an edit layout to a created asset?

I don't think that there is a currently a trigger that can just add a link value. You can do this with an Asset Builder.

There also isn't a way to automatically add a simple edit layout using a trigger.

There is a new Update Link Trigger Action that may be able to help you out. It has been released into 4.8.0 RC1
