Just want to know if this is possible and best method to do this.
Want to allow external clients to sign up for a email lists and also to be able to submit calendar events.
My logic is:
Asset Builder page, client (as public user) submits username, password, email addy, selects email lists to sign up to and if they want to submit calendar of events.
Either create locations or metadata and triggers to create bulkmail user (or can it be a regular user link in bulkmail group?) in groups
Send automated response to client saying success in email signup (would like a click to confirm email, but can not work out how).
For a user who wants to submit events, there is workflow applied (ie local admin needs to approve).
So can this be done with one asset builder page?
Is create locations or metadata + trigger best way to go?
The Account Manager page is designed to allow for the creation of User Accounts. Essentially, it extends Asset Builder, and has the ability to do email validation of user accounts on creation.
Thanks Avi
Got the Account Manager working a treat, problem with create locations but I expect that is a permissions issue.
Just want to confirm before spending time building this, it will work and which was is best.
We can send bulkmail to regular users (not bulkmail users)?
The best way to send bulkmail to these users is to have them in specific usergroups? Ie link users to specific usergroups (by using create locations) for each email list they want.
My only concern is how could users add or delete which email lists they receive (ie add or delete which usergroups they are in)
Or would it be better to use metadata and triggers instead of create location, so they can easily change there own email lists (usergroups)
Bulkmail can be sent to real user accounts too. The easiest way to allow people to manage their subscriptions is to use the Bulkmail subscribe page. First let them create an account and then point them to this page to subscribe and unsubscribe.
Hi Guys,
When I was working with this setup, I found it easier to use a link manager page to manage subscriptions. Unlike the subscriptions page asset, when you get to the page, the locations of the user (i.e. the subscriptions they have) are actually already ticked, so to unsubscribe all they need to is untick.
Chris
I thought the bulkmail subscribe does that too. In fact, I'm pretty sure bulkmail subscribe extends Link Manager. You need to be logging in for the functionality to work though.
In the version I was using, I had a list of checkboxes for subscribe then another list for unsubscribe. You can list out which ones you are subscribed to, but the boxes never came pre checked. I'm pretty sure that was why I had to use the link manager.
