Using Simple Edit Interface

I have a design that splits the screen into three parts. Down the left is the menu, in the middle is the content and down the right is the Latest News using nested content.

When i go to a page and use the simple edit interface i can edit the content part but not the Latest News part why is this??

The Simple Edit Interface only allows you to edit the asset that is displayed in the Body tag of the design. If you want to edit the nested content, you need to go directly to that page via its full URL and then use the simple interface.

This is a no brainer to be built into the system! We're relatively new to Squiz and are really surprised that nested content cannot be displayed and edited "inline" on the page. It's surprising that the orginal post was back in 2005 but Squiz haven't built this in. Would seem like an editability / system usability feature that would make the system so much cooler and useable.

The architectural requirements to support this in Matrix are complex and would not likely be included in this product.

However our latest product, MySource Mini, provides various levels of inline editing for nested components without delving into the underlying structure.

Well I'd have to take your word on that one. . . but it just seems a bit bizarre that nested content cannot be displayed inline whilst linked content can no problem.
