Is there anyway to do a what's new asset listing with Updated and Created dates used. So it lists new items and items that have just been updated.
Yes. The What's New asset listing has a "Date Field" setting which allows you to chose which date field to use. You should use Last Updated/Published, because newly created ones will have that date set as well as newly updated ones.
In addition to this, is it possible to have the time say something like, Today at 11:30am, rather than the date? Or, 3 days ago, something like that. It makes it alot more appealing as far as having the user want to visit the page because there is new content.
This is not currently possible, but it would make a nifty feature request.
You should be able to use something like this code to patch or create a new asset that does that.
