Wish list

Thanks, Marcus. I'll take a look.

Here's another one…

I'd like to be able to display metadata on standard pages, like you can in asset listings and designs. I know you can put metadata on a standard page via a design, but it's restricted to being outside the bodycopy design area.

Over the last few months I've been able to delete many items off my wish list - there just seems to be so much development going on. Creating a workaround for Matrix URLs i.e favicon and robots.txt was at the top of mine, so I can't wait to see it in the next stable release.

Here's the main ones (wouldn't be surprised if some of these have been covered too).

  1. When you create an asset, the filename is based on the page name that you enter. If you then need to change it, you can change the name of the asset, but not the actual filename. You need to create a new asset.

  2. It would be really handy to log the terms being entered through the search engine.

  3. On 404 error pages there should be some tags to display the referring URL.

  4. An option to expand all folders. Would be very useful in locating assets of a particular nature such as ‘under construction’.

  5. An option to set all PDFs to a link 2 type so they don’t appear in the navigation. This would save time and ensure setting it to a type 2 is not overlooked.

  6. Option to disable user accounts from being set as Under Construction if login fails 3 times.

  7. Ensure cascading relevance weighting of assets is possible.

  8. Greater control of formatting site maps and custom forms.

2 and 6 have been done. There is now greater control over custom forms with keyword replacements and the like, so 8 may be partly covered.

The rest are all good suggestions but are not scheduled for the next stable.

Just saw that 2. was done way back in 3.1.0 RC2. Wish I'd known sooner.

Not sure about 1: Are you talking about File assets or Page assets? Page assets have a Web Paths page that allows you to change the URL of that page.

Also, you could do 3 with some JavaScript, I imagine.

Actually… the search list only seems to list the number of assets each keyword has assigned to it? Is it possible to log the terms being searched for by the visitor?

Yes, this is possible in v3.6.

Look forward to it.
