Hi,
I'm having trouble creating any kind of users on the 3.6RC2 from a BE user account.
My User Folder is live.
The BE user usergroup is live.
My BE user is live.
I've given my BE user admin permission to a folder outside the user folder as well as to the User Folder itself. I still can't create a user or a BE user anywhere…
Usergroups seem to be given unrestricted access on creation, which is good.
Have I forgotten to do anything?
Edited: I did forget to add the email error i get. Here it is:

3.6RC2 - BE user cant create users
I'm also getting a warning:
You do not have permission to save the attributes of "User #55" (#55) [CORE0121]
The trace is a bit long, so I'm not gonna post it unless someone asks for it.
Just wondering if anyone had any news regarding this?
Anybody using 3.6RC2 able to create a user or a backend user from a backend user account?

Make sure the Backend User has Admin Permissions to the user group. I believe that Write permissions are not sufficient to create a user (as the new user’s permissions are changed during the creation process, which requires Admin Permission).
It was one of the first thing I tried:
I've given my BE user admin permission to a folder outside the user folder as well as to the User Folder itself. I still can't create a user or a BE user anywhere…
Still no luck.
I've just done the following:
- Create a backend user "test"
- Set user "test" to live
- Give user "test" admin permissions to the users folder
- Log in as user "test"
- Create backend user "test2"
Seems to work fine for me. Can you save the backtrace to a txt file and attach it here in a new post?
I’ve just followed your procedure step by step: same result.
When committing I get a warning:
“You do not have permission to save the attributes of “Backend User #198” (#198) [CORE0121]”
(trace attached)
followed by the detail screen, followed by an error:
“A run level has been set without restoring”
(trace attached)

You cannot create users at the same level. E.g, backend users cannot create other backend users. They can create normal user accounts though.
Only sys admins and the root user can create backend user accounts.
Thanks Anthony, but that’s not what I had been told:
BE create BE
Also, as mentioned at the start of the thread, my BE user cannot create even normal user

If you read carefully, you’ll see that I discussed the change with Greg (so that BE users could create other BE users), but it was never implemented, for security reasons.

That will go back to the permissions you have assigned for the BE user. You’ve said you have assigned admin permissions to the user group for the BE user, which is all that you should need. Are you sure you are trying to create a “user” account now that the inability to create other backend users has been clarified? It’s the only reason I can think of off the top of my head as to why you are getting those errors.
