We have recently upgraded our development MySource Matrix server to 3.10.4 and everything seemed fine.
However, we have twice witnessed an incident where, in the admin interface (back-end), the Asset Map applet seems to load OK but never progressed past the "Initialising…" stage and the Asset Map tree structure is never rendered. The spinning icon that denotes applet activity never stops spinning.
I can toggle between Asset Map tabs, however neither displays an asset tree structure. I can interact with the My Space tab, although probably no surprises there as it seems to be just HTML, not Java.
As this is only a development box, last time this happened, we thought it ws just an anomaly, restored from a backup, and everything worked again. However this is obviously not a viable option when we upgrade our production server.
Our corporate browser is IE 6 with Sun JRE 1.4.2_05 (build 1.4.2_05-b04) or in some cases, a later version. I also have FireFox 1.5.0.8 installed and I experience the same problem with it. Furthermore, I have also tried to access the admin interface on other PCs and they also have the same issue. This would tend to indicate that it may not simply be a browser related issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start to look on the server to troubleshoot this?
First, check the Java Console on the client to see if there are any errors reported. Also, check the /path/to/matrix/data/private/logs/error.log to see if any errors appear in Matrix.
