Asset permissions

Hi all I hoe you can help me.


We have a section of the site where all assets given write access to by Group A

Group A consists of Backend users.

Up until recently everything worked fine, but now users in that group can't aquire locks on assets when using admin interface.

What got me stumped is permission screen shows that Group A can edit assets, for testing purposes a user out of that group was given specific admin access to asset, asset is live there are no active workflows applied and yet that user can not aquire lock BUT this same user can edit this asset in simple edit interface (we use edit+).



Ok some more investigations showed that this user I have been talking about can change status of an asset to safe edit and then aquire locks. This is weird since we created system wide trigger to put live assets under safe edit when edited in simple edit mode. trigger supposed to fire when simple edit is accessed and it works fine, I am just not sure why it effects admin interface.



What am I missing?

Apperently it has to do with workflow that is applied to entire site.


Trying to figure out how to let power users in different sections approve their own and teir teams assets without creating separate workflows for each section. Not liking my chances…
