All of our designs are in a folder called "Designs" that is located outside of the sites. One of them has been acceidently overwritten. We have history turned on so I can see a copy of the page with the correct design as it was before the accident. Is there any way to restore this design? I've looked on the history page but can only see a way to set the system back so I can view the page. An option to restore an asset to the previous state would be good.
Rollback the asset to the previous state, copy the parsefile and then exit rollback. Paste the parsefile into the current version.
Rollback is not designed to be able to restore previous asset versions, just view them. Because all the assets are linked, you can't safely restore a single asset without potentially breaking existing or deleted links to other assets.
However, you can use rollback to get previous versions and then cut'n'paste them outside of the rollback system.
Thanks but it doesn't work. When I try to edit the parse file in rollback mode I get a message telling me that I cannot make any changes to the system.
You don't need to edit the parsefile in rollback – just select the code and copy it into notepad. Then, exit Rollback, edit the live design and paste the code back in.
Thanks but it doesn't work. When I choose "edit parse file" from the java navigation applet the screen that appears tells me I'm in roll back mode and that I can't edit anything. It doesn't show the parse file for me to copy (like it normally would).
I ended up rolling back, viewing source for a page using my web browser then customising it again.
Interesting. I'll look into getting parsefiles displayed (in non-edit mode) while in rollback.
I've just had this issue also.
Is a fix for this available in RC2?
