Carrying querystrings across in remaps (Matrix version 4.8.0)

Hi there,

 

I see from the Matrix User Manuals website that when setting up a remap there is an option to preserve querystrings in remaps (http://manuals.matrix.squizsuite.net/system-management/chapters/remap-manager). This obviously refers to version 4.12.2.

 

Here in the Yorkshire Dales we are using version 4.8.0 of Matrix and there is no sign of the preserve querystring option in either the Remap Manager or on the Web Paths page for the asset.

 

Please could you tell me if it is possible to pass the querystring over in version 4.8.0, perhaps with a workaround of some sort, or will I just have to wait until we get upgraded?

 

I need to set up a remap such that the url:

 

http://www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/planning/planningapplications/planning-applications/detailed-results?appNo=R/05/89A

 

could also be accessed from:

 

http://www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/detailed-results?appNo=R/05/89A.

 

As a supplementary question, are user manuals for previous versions of Matrix available anywhere, for poor folk like us who aren't using the latest version?

No previous versions are available - I've put it to the documentation team several times, and mentioned it to various high ups in Squiz UK, but it's never been taken up. Even a bit of information about when a feature was introduced would be helpful. All I can suggest for that is to keep requesting it - they might listen eventually...

We listen to all requests and work on adding version information to the manuals started late last year. But it is a big job and requires a lot of planning and checking, so it is not ready yet.

Great to hear that the user manuals for different versions are on their way - thanks!

 

Any thoughts on the querystrings in remaps? Will I just have to wait until we upgrade?

I think that Greg meant that each feature will have a version number attached to it, letting us know when it was added. Similar to how the php docs do it.

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant. We have to annotate all the features in the manuals and find a nice way to show that information clearly. Once we have all the annotations, we can tweak the user interface over time. But generating a complete coherent set of docs for every Matrix version is just too much work with our dual monthly releases.

Back to my main issue though, is carrying query strings across in remaps not possible in version 4.8.0?

 

Not a problem if it isn't, I am happy to wait until we upgrade, and the folk who have requested it will just have to wait! It would just be very helpful to me to have confirmation either way.
