Change asset type - possible?

(Andrew Harris) #1

I am in the progress of migrating a client site into our system.

After a bit of strife, I managed to import the 800+ images using the file bridge method, so far, so good.

Unfortunately, they are all generic 'file' assets, and I can't now create 'varieties' of the images to use as thumbnails.

Any suggestions?

I wrote a morph_assets.php script that got added to Matrix in 4.16.0. Strangely it isn't mentioned in the manuals, but it is in the release notes:

It was written for exactly this purpose.

ahh - thanks for that Nic!

We're currently on an ancient and embarrasingly creaky 4.0.3, but the official date for our upgrade is just a couple of weeks away. I reckon I can keep the client happy with other developments while I wait ;-)

If you aren't on a warranted system, you could just pull that script from a newer version of Matrix and use it. Obviously test it first with the --simulate mode, and then with a few test assets, but it doesn't use anything that wasn't around in 4.0.3.
