Could I verify whether modifying the 'System Web Path Separator' setting under System Configuration would effect all pre-existing links or only future links post commit?
Any advice on this one muchly appreciated.

Only future ones.

Cheers Nic, thought as much but had to ask the question.

Yeah, we made the change on a large site years ago and everything was fine.
Is there a way to update all the links that already exist? We want to change our separator and it would be good if the whole system can update easily.

I don't know of a way to batch this. Just be careful changing these all on a live site if you are linked everywhere. Your Google rank could go down.

Eventually most sites/assets would migrate to the new web path separator and this is something we are keeping in mind. It would be nice to avoid changing each asset individually and bypassing the associated HIPO job that would come with the change as this would take a very long time to complete even one site.

There doesn't seem to be any easy way to do this. Maybe one of the Matrix developers have an idea.
