Cloning / copying backend user access in bulk

(M Macdade) #1

Hey Squiz,

Lately we have recently been getting some laborious requests to replicate user access in the CMS. Some of these publishers have access to 20-30 areas. Depending on the amount of assets it can take half a day or more to grant editing permission to a single area such as www.griffith.edu.au/health*

Is there a simpler way I can clone all of the permissions in bulk for a backend user to another backend user(s)?

Our university is running Squiz matrix v4.18.5

Regards,

Matt

Hey Matt,

This should usually be done with user groups. Best practice is to apply permissions to areas using groups only, then you can put the users into the groups they need to be part of to achieve the access they need and move them around groups as well when access need changing.

Is that a feasible option?

Thanks Bart,

Would have been great if we had groups set up in advance, I ended up doing these manually but will look at setting up some groups for future requests.

Regards,

Matt
