Configurations of servers

I'm still getting to grips with MySource Matrix. I'm wondering what the best configuration of servers is. For example is it common to have development, staging and live servers?

I haven't seen anything in the documentation about this and the only question in the forum was back in 2005.

Thanks,

Martin Brown

The architecture used for systems is dependent on a number of factors such as expected traffic and the number of people that may be editing at any one time. This is provisioned by Squiz in consultation with clients on a case-by-case basis.

Probably the most common architecture used by our clients is one which uses separate application and DB servers, to offload DB processing. Searching and caching may also be offloaded to databases other than the main Matrix DB. Architectures may also include DB and filesystem replication to other servers and also test environments.

So in general, a good balance of reliability, redundancy and a good isolated test environment should ensure a high-quality Matrix experience for your user base.
