Hi I am a newbie in Matrix v3.18.3 but got a wierd thing happening at the moment. Sometimes we will get a blank editing content screen in WYSIWYG editor. We could see the content when right mouse clicking "Edit Content" and "Acquire Lock(s)". All contents went missing after clicking the green table icon ("Edit Contents"). The toolbars also greyed out except the Capital "A". Please see below part of screen dump. It happens randomly. Has anyone got a clue why it is happening and how to stop it? The published content still works but the editor comes up blank (below).
Thanks
Tina
Content disappearing in the WYSIWYG editor
It can be handy to see if there's anything that each situation has in common.
If you try to edit that mystery page, does it always happen?
Are there some pages it's never happened on?

Hi Raena, the answer is yes. This problem is always happens on certain pages and there are some pages it's never happened on.
I have just tried the mystery pages in Firefox 3, I have no problem any more. So what's the difference between our IE7 and everyone else's IE7?
Thanks a lot!
Could it be something strange about the content of your pages? Perhaps there's some oddly formed HTML, or some script stuff in there.
From your screenshot, it looks as if HTML Tidy is not activated for your system. It's a great idea to turn it on so that any bodgy HTML can be cleaned up when you save the page.
On the same train of though as Raena, do your broken pages all use the same design and working pages use something different?
Good spotting! But I'd be quite intrigued if it were a design thing; the only thing that affects the WYSIWYG editor is generally some CSS from the applied design.

Raena, there wasn't any odd HTML or script on those pages. They were just standard pages.
Actually we did enable the HTML Tidy but it didn't work. We even got our System Admin to install the HTML Tidy package for us but still couldn't get it to work. Please see Bruce Kyle's another posting for more details about our HTML Tidy issue. (http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/index.php?showtopic=5343&hl=bruce+kyle)
Cheers
Check settings in IE there might still be Javascript errors or warnings but they are supressed.
We found that validator on our system is acting strange sometimes, for example it would strip quotes in news assets but not in standard pages.
Just thought I'd come in here to let you know that some of our users have experienced exactly the same problem in the same random way.
All pages are using the same design. The only obvious commonality that we've been able to establish is the use of IE7 although, having said that, there are users (using IE7) that haven't experienced this problem.
One theory we're testing is the screen resolution (on 17in monitors) - grasping at straws here.
If you view source is the content there?
Is it a plain vanilla Microsoft IE7, or are there some external plugins or customisations? We had some issues with an OEM version of IE once, shipped with a clients PC.
we have had this problem before for LDAP editors. It happened in IE only so far, so we asked them to use FF.
Edit: i cannot upload screen dump.
It said "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is available"
