I’m having trouble customising the calendar page for when it lists a single event details - I would like to print some added metadata fields on this page. I can get it working using the “Single Calendar Event Format” using a paint layout but this doesn’t seem to be the right one when accessing the event through the calendar.
I have tried other custom asset types like “Calendar page format” and “Abstract Calendar Event Format” none of which seem to be what I’m after.
Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The calendar is taking the content of the single page event and displaying it without applying any paint layouts that affect either the calendar or the single page event (I’ve tested this also on a 3.12 system). The normal behaviour of matrix is that when the content of an asset is nested within another, it brings across the paint layout as well… although this hasn’t always been so and I think it’s been a gradual move to bring all packages inline with this behaviour. A developer will be able to clarify that.
Matrix will, however, display the paint layout for a single page event when that event is viewed directly, and not through a calendar. If your needs are simple, you may be able to use an asset listing to list out events and provide users with a direct link to the event (which will respect the paint layout). If you need the formatting options that a calendar asset provides, then possibly a feature request in the bug tracker is the best way to go.

Thanks Anthony - I managed to apply a paint layout to the ‘single cal event’ asset type and got the desired effect I was after.
