Display & no longer hide: "no results" of individual listed content - using only one Asset Listing

Asset Listings - such crazy beasts.

Has anyone been able to show "no results" for individual folders listed under a singular asset listing?

Right now smart asset listings hide sub-folders with no content (rightly so) - but we want to display that certain folders are empty alongside their content-filled brethren on the page - essentially calling-out that that area needs to populate content :)

e.g.

New York

 • MOU [.pdf]

Paris

 • MOU [.pdf]

Woy Woy

 • none at this time - get it together woy woy ;)

It is currently working, with Root Node Selection > Current Asset > Asset ID, and nesting that Asset Listing into a page, with dynamic parameter of current_asset to display the files.

I'd seen http://forums.squizsuite.net/index.php?showtopic=11566 but was trying to stick to one asset-listing.

Anyone seen something close to this?

Update:

So I tried in vain to use 2 asset listings instead as well, no luck.

*Shield your sensitive eyes this is a hack*

Since my listing is primarily for uploaded resources only,

 1. I linked a link asset under each folder that didn't have assets,
 2. and customised my Link Format in the Asset Listing. as so:
%asset_short_name%

Printing like:

Woy Woy

 • None listed at this time

/I'll let myself out!

Are you talking about using Asset Grouping?

You can build a recursive listing using a paint layout & nesting an asset listing that uses %asset_contents% in the type format. You can use this to construct a tree that will show all nodes including empty ones.

Thank you both, hmm, %asset_contents% eh? I had only used that for printing body content - I'll give that a go ~ thanks!
