Do I still need different triggers for assets created in Edit+ and Admin?

Hi Matrixers,

Matrix v 5.3.4.0

Just had a trigger that’s set to event ‘asset created’ and asset type image, fail on an image created in Edit+.

Do I still need to have 2 triggers to create image varieties, 1 for admin and 1 for Edit+?
And what’s the event conditions to separate them out? I know that it changed with one of our previous upgrades, so thought I’d ask for the best practice way to do it now!

Thanks,
Charlie.

Hey Charlie,
It should be the same method as described in this Tutorial: https://matrix.squiz.net/tutorials/2015/configuring-a-trigger-to-create-an-image-variety

There is a section there that talks about how you configure the trigger for Edit+.

In saying that, there might be time to review that and see if we can’t come up with a better trigger to target both interfaces now that we have new trigger features added since the version that tutorial was written in.

Hi Bart,

Thanks for that link. I’ve set up my new trigger, and to me it has all the bits in that the tutorial has, but it won’t work. I’ve had to send it into Squiz support, which I feel is a waste of my support hours as I really should be able to do this myself. How can something that should be so simple in reality be so tricky that I can’t spot where I’ve gone wrong?!

But yes, reviewing the triggers so that we don’t have to have these 2 totally different triggers for admin and Edit+ would be great.

Thanks,
Charlie.

What part of the trigger won’t work? It won’t fire at all or the actions don’t complete properly?
Is it your Admin Trigger or your Edit+ trigger?

Can you give us a screenshot of your trigger setup?

Was, as suspected a PICNIC problem - I’d got the ‘included in url’ set as ‘not included in url’ just couldn’t see it for looking!
All ok now.
Still annoying having to have 2 lots of triggers for everything, 1 for admin and 1 for Edit+ so glad I might have got this to be reviewed at least!
