Does Matrix 3.6 support Mac OSX

Hi,
I would like to know whether anyone is having any trouble using Matrix 3.6 on a Mac OSX(newest version) system?

As i dont have a mac to test Matrix with, it would be nice to know whether there are any dramas?

Thanks

Our server in Melbourne (buffy) is a MacOS X Server which runs Matrix v3.6 just fine.

excellent so you are able to login to the admin section and the asset tree all works fine on a mac browser?

Yes,

you can run the actual Matrix application on a OSX server as Avi wrote.

And yes, you can administrate Matrix backed with a Mac OSX browser, I would prefere either Firefox or Mozilla.

I have a lot of success with the latest version of Camino (1.0b2) as well, btw.

I do all my work using Firefox on OS X.

ok thanks for the help everyone!

I have tiger (OS 10.4) on my iBook at home and I had trouble with the asset map in the admin side of 3.6.x - doesn't the asset map require Java 1.5 and Apple/OS X only has Java 1.4.2?

The Asset Map is designed to run on either 1.4 or 1.5 versions of Java; however Apple only made Java 1.3 available to browsers other than Safari by default. This problem is solved by (what was) a third-party plugin called the Java Embedding Plugin, which allows Firefox and Camino use the latest version of Java installed on your Mac.

At least one of the Mac Mozilla products (can’t remember whether it was the latest Camino, or Firefox 1.5, or both) now comes with the Java Embedding Plugin automatically installed, IIRC.

Firefox 1.5 works without the plugin. Actually, if you put the plugin in there it kills applets.

That’s good to know and maybe should be pinned… but only for OSX 10.4 (I’m guessing) as I am on 10.3, FF1.5.0.1 with JEP plugin (installed before FF) and it works fine.

Must be 10.4 only. I dont have any other versions to test on. It just stopped working for me one day and I had to remove it.

Yep just had to upgrade my Firefox to 1.5 and the asset map was fine without bothering with the plugin. Safari worked too.

So this means I can now work from home - not so sure this is a good thing

I'm using a G5 and Firefox with no probs so far…
