Dynamic Create Locations

(Lvanwinkle) #1

I'm having difficulty getting the Dynamic Create Locations on an Asset Builder to work. I am attempting to allow news items to be created in a list of folders under a parent folder. This functionality works in the default 'logged in' form, however when a customized form is created the keyword replacement fails to load the list of folders.

This should work.

I just tested by adding the keyword to the logged in body copy and it works correctly.

What version of Matrix are you using?

Hey hey Nic! Yes. Adding the keyword (ex. %folder_field%) to the logged in body copy does indeed work. But does it have to be in the logged in body copy for you to use the keywords in the custom body copy? Adding the keywords to the custom body copy only does not work.

and to answer your question, I'm running 3.16.8

You just pretty much just have to leave it in the logged in body copy as that is where it will work.

An alternative to this that I use, which also solves the problem of sorting, is to use an asset listing to simulate the dynamic create locations list. That way, you can still generate the listing, put it anywhere in your layout, and sort the list how you want.

Good luck.

Thanks Nic. That was the trouble I was having. By placing the keywords in the logged in body copy, I wasn't able to control the layout of the custom form.

Cheers!
