Edit+ Locks Timeout?

(Douglas (@finnatic at @waikato)) #1

I'm searching unsuccessfully for information about the Edit+ Locks timeout.

We have a system using Edit+ and workflow, where the content editors create content and apply for approval, and then close their Edit+ windows or tabs.

We're finding however that the workflow approvers can't approve as the locks are still held by the editors several minutes later.

Is there a setting I can adjust?  Or a manual page that explains what the timeout is that I can refer the users to?

Lock Length is set in System Configuration - https://manuals.matrix.squizsuite.net/system-configuration/chapters/system-configuration#Intervals

You could look at setting up a trigger to automatically release the locks as well.

What Jason said, but Edit+ also refreshes the locks automatically on an asset according to the EasyEditConfig - similar to how Admin Mode does it (through a setting in System Configuration) - this is so a long edit of, for instance, page contents can be done without having to manually update the lock every so often. By default both of these occur every 2 minutes.

If either one is closed, then it will be beholden to the actual lock length in the System Configuration - by default this is 10 minutes. If they inadvertently leave the screen open, then it's going to keep refreshing the lock (unless they lose network access to do so, for example).

What trigger action would you use for that?  I'd envisage the enduser applying for approval, but then not closing their window or tab immediately - and AFAIK Edit+ trys to get the lock while the window is open?
