The source view alone hints that this could knock our current EES into a cocked hat (and solve some of the EES WYSIWYG issues we can't currently solve). Is it scheduled for inclusion in Matrix?
Tom
EES+ for Matrix
Hey Guys
No current plans to include Viper in administration mode, but who knows what the future holds.

But will Viper be a stand alone editor?
This new version of Viper will only be available with EES+. You wont be able to go and use it elsewhere. Sorry Nic.

Is EES+ a paid feature?

Yes. EES+ is a paid commercial addon for Squiz Matrix. You wont be able to go in and play around with that code like you can with the standard EES, which is also getting a bit of a facelift at the same time and remains licenced under the GPL and freely available.

Well, that's some good news, at least. I don't quite understand what Viper is for, though, in that case.
Tom
Let me clarify my last somewhat obtuse statement. I understand that one will be able to pay for EES+ as an enhancement of Matrix, to replace the open-source standard EES. I do not see any reference to EES+ yet on the Squiz sites - when will it become available?
I also understand that Viper started life in Squiz CMS (fka MySource Mini). Is it still part of Squiz CMS? If so, what version, compared to the version in that video?
In other words, will the full range of Squiz WYSIWYG editors be: EES (open-source), EES+ (commercial), and Squiz CMS's editor (?open-source earlier version of Viper)?
Forgive me if I am alone in finding all of this somewhat confusing.
Thanks
Tom

Viper has always been a part of Squiz CMS and still is.
Squiz uses 2 WYSIWYG editors in our products: The Matrix WYSIWYG editor and the Viper WYSIWYG editor.
The Matrix WYSIWYG editor is obviously older and is used inside Squiz Matrix and EES.
The Viper WYSIWYG editor is the new inline one and is used inside Squiz CMS, Squiz Roadmap and, shortly, inside EES+.
We've been rewriting the Viper WYSIWYG editor to make it even better based on feedback about Squiz CMS and the Matrix WYSIWYG editor. We've undertaken evaluations of other WYSIWYG editors available but found them lacking in some areas that we believe we can improve. Squiz has invested significant time in Viper to ensure it is a really great editor and I anticipate a lot more investment in it as EES+ rolls out and we get even more feedback from users.
The new version of Viper will debut inside EES+.
The Matrix WYSIWYG editor will remain inside Squiz Matrix and the free EES.
Squiz CMS and Squiz Roadmap will get the upgraded version of Viper in a future update.

Also, there was a last minute name change for the premium (commercial) version of EES, it is now called Edit+ for Squiz Matrix.
