EES Preview : Anchor link scrolls to incorrect location

(Tim Davison) #1

When attempting to use same-page anchor links when an asset is in Preview mode in EES, clicking the link seems to scroll the page too far.  E.g., if I have an ID on a heading, and an anchor link at the top of the page, when in Preview mode and I click the link it scrolls to the para just under the heading, not to the heading itself.  Only happens in Preview mode - when viewing the page stand-alone works absolutely fine.

What I think is actually happening is that the EES toolbar is sitting over the top of the heading and hiding it, making it *seem* to scroll to far.  Affects all browsers the same.

Had a look on Bug Tracker, was a Preview scrolling issue for FF - I think this is different though.

Anyone encountered this before?  Perhaps specific to this version on EES (Matrix v4.12, EES v1.4.2 with Edit+)?

Thanks

Hey Tim, is this happening in the demo system you were provided with for testing a few weeks back? That should be Edit+ 1.5.0, so if you could confirm in there that would be great. If you can confirm there, please feel free to log the issue in the Edit+ Squizmap project with a link to the URL (in demo system) you tested on, browser(s)/OS details, and steps to reproduce. If you could provide the HTML from your test that would be fantastic too.

Cheers

Out of curiosity I’m going to retest this on our instance as well. We haven’t had any reports with 1.5.0 but that doesn’t mean that users arnt previewing properly anyways.

Thanks Scotty.  I did happen to test this on the demo site, and confirm it fails the same way in Edit+ v1.5 as well.  That demo site is unfortunately now decomm-ed, though it's not hard to set up the test somewhere else.

I've created an Idea in the Squiz roadmap, with attachments for steps to reproduce and the raw HTML code I used to test/confirm.
