Has anyone tried to implement an event manager in Squiz? By that I mean events that can be booked rather than simple calendar entries (e.g. conference booking).

Any reason why you wouldn't use Custom Form and Calendar Asset?
You can just apply paint layout to an event with the custom form, and add all the necessary input fields to capture the data.

Yea we've done it a few times, Master Builders is the best example I can think of: http://www.masterbuilders.asn.au/events
Might have to find an event that still is open for registration, such as http://www.masterbuilders.asn.au/events/register-online-free?name=Lawyers+in+the+House®ion=Gold+Coast&startdate=14+Oct+2014+9%3A00am&enddate=14+Oct+2014+3%3A00pm&id=216450
Some events are also paid for which go to an ecommerce form instead of a custom form.
