Grouped asset listing - exclude current asset or root folder not working

(Lisa) #1

I have a set of PDFs organised into folders and I’m using an asset listing to try and group them in the same way as the folders are set up, e.g.

– Folder 1
---- Folder 1A
---- Folder 1B
– Folder 2
---- Folder 2A
---- Folder 2B

Under each of the 1A, 1B, etc folders are the lists of PDFs.

However, I keep getting the root directory displaying as well. So the structure is the same as above, but the root directory and top level folders are also included, e.g.

– Folder 1
---- Folder 1A
---- Folder 1B
– Folder 2
---- Folder 2A
---- Folder 2B
– Root folder
---- Folder 1
---- Folder 2

Group Level 1 and Group Level 2 are both set to group by Parent Asset, and set to group by Direct Parent Asset Only.

I’ve tried:

  • setting the root folder in Exclude Asset
  • setting Exclude This Asset to ‘yes’
  • changing the Minimum Depth/Height to 1

… and no joy.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,
Lisa

Hi
Could maybe try setting the minimum depth/height field in the asset listing to 1 to avoid the root node?
Thanks
Peter

Could you maybe put these folders that you want to list under a new parent folder and set the root node to that on the asset listing?

And yea, try setting minimum depth to 2 perhaps?

Thanks for the suggestions Peter and Bart.
I tried setting the minimum depth to 2 but it seems to make no difference.

Bart, I’m not sure I follow the new parent folder suggestion - do you mean add an extra level to the folder structure? Wouldn’t I still have the same problem with the new parent?

Well, not really as you could set the root node setting on your asset listing to point to that folder instead, which would exclude any other assets from outside of that folder being listed. Assuming that’s the problem you are describing?
