How big is a site

(Tom Chadwin) #1

Is there a way to find out how big a site is in Matrix? I need to clone a whole site, but would be more comfortable knowing how big it is so I can check disk space before I go ahead.

If you only have one site in your Matrix install you could do a backup and see how large that is. It would include everything, files and DB.

How are you going about cloning an entire site? This isn't going to be an easy task.

Erm... Right-click, clone. So there's more to it than that, I take it? And yes, this is on our main production Matrix server, which has many sites on it, so the backup option won't help us.

Cloning a top level parent doesn't clone non-dependant child assets. So, you would have to clone every asset in the entire site. :(

Ah. Back to Squiz, then.

Thanks Nic

You can also try and use the Export and Import scripts or even the inbuilt export and import to XML tools?

If its the only site on the server, you can always check the matrix directory file size and compare that to a whole download of the matrix code and check out the difference in file size.
